The Missouri Film Alliance of Springfield

hang on to your location photos, there’s a new film group in town!

and in the state…

after much work, a group of dedicated individuals (myself included) have formed a coalition to support and encourage filmmaking in the southern region of missouri. the group had it’s first meeting last week, with a meeting to elect officers scheduled for nov. 13th. http://www.springfieldarts.org/fi lm

the idea is to create a forum for local filmmakers to support their works, educate others, and lobby for film shoots in the state of missouri. this will involve seeking changes to existing incentives for out of state productions, as well as courting productions to shoot here instead of another state (or country). the group is in it’s infancy, but its already garnering a lot of notice within the state. set up as a not for profit organization, there are no ties directly to the government to limit the activities of the members.

if you’re in missouri and make *any* kind of film, please check out the website and try to make the meeting on the 13th.

Congrats to all on getting it off the ground. As someone who myself sorta got involved, perhaps more than I should have (I participated in some of the meetings to work on the bylaws), I am pleased that the group is apparently doing so well. Keep it up, and hope to hear great things from y’all.

thanks chris!

it’s been a lot of work, with a lot still left to go#–i remember your input at a few of the initial meetings, and rest assured that the issues you were concerned about are still a vital part of the mission we hope to attack. hope to see you around town…
