vince guaraldi trio

is there anything better for the ears on christmas eve than the charlie brown christmas music? i think not. thank you charlie brown#–thank you from the bottom of my heart… and yes, i’m still wrapping presents this late. the only other christmas cd i listen to is this great jazz disc i got from the pottery barn years ago; the disc is unavailable for purchase as far as i know, unless e-bay has something. happy hunting!

the santa skunk

yesterday was my mother’s birthday (i know, two days before christmas#–what a crock…as a kid she got to open a gift early) so i drove down to nixa for a surprise party. coyotes in nixa is a good place to get a boulevard wheat and some hot wings, but i don’t recommend the buffet#–get a burger or quesadillas instead. after we "surprised" my mother (i think she knew about the party), she opened gifts and blew out candles, and since i’m still deep in post-production land i had to leave early. heading down highway cc towards springfield, i passed the aire-master building#–out front was a person dressed as the aire-master mascot (a skunk) wearing a santa hat, waving at passersby. it was surreal#–a six foot tall santa-skunk wishing all a merry christmas. i’m still not sure how that particular act helps the business of aire-master, but i guess it’s just part of the season.

the game of life

i am amazing when it comes to the game of Life. i’m not joking. i am. i never lose. we played twice today at my dad’s house and i won both times, the first time with $1,865,000 and the second time with $1,600,000. the secret is getting the job of the teacher, the $90,000 salary, and then picking a second career as a summer job. too bad this doesn’t work in real Life, huh?

in other news, i rented the DVD of the Bourne Supremacy to further investigate the mystery of Bourne’s home town. well, they didn’t even discuss it#–except to say that a lot of the scene was Joan Allen’s idea. i’m not really sure what that means. i can’t link Joan Allen to Nixa, Missouri. well, actually, maybe i can…let’s see…Joan Allen was an early member of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, originating roles in a lot of Lanford Wilson’s plays (including Burn This, one of my favorite plays). Lanford Wilson is from Lebanon Missouri and would know about Nixa. This seems a stretch though, doesn’t it?

i know what you are thinking…

where has nick gone? well, here I am#–one rough cut of the movie wiser. yup. the rough cut is done, the notes have begun, and we’re in the home stretch. what does this mean? this means we will be holding test screenings in the very near future. that’s right, you and your friends can see The Suburban Seven and tell us what you think! we’ll post the dates and times when we’ve got them, but it’s going to be very, very soon.

quick note, i now have an agency in st. louis that is handling all of my midwest gigs, talent plus.

they’ve already lined me up to host a Civil War documentary called "America’s Second Revolution" that will lens in March in Springfield, IL.
