after the shoot

the shoot was great! i can’t applaud the crew enough on their efficiency and ability. we shot on HD, which was something i hadn’t expected, and the footage i’ve seen looks great. it was an ambitious schedule, and for the most part we stayed ahead#–i don’t know that we ever fell behind. i wasn’t able to see the town of Springfield, IL as i spent most of my time there running lines and rehearsing when i wasn’t on set, but i can say that the Old State Capital (our location) was fascinating#–if you’re ever in the area it merits stopping by.

i’m now starting into a rewrite of "Ozark Mile", and will be sending out festival entries for "The Suburban Seven". the biggest thing on my plate right now is securing representation on the coasts. now that i am a member of both actor’s unions, and in need of some good career guidance, it’s time to find someone who i can work with in NY and/or LA. my agency in St. Louis (Talent-Plus) is just awesome#–they work so incredibly hard#–and i can’t say enough how happy i am there (thank you Diane!). if i can find a NY agency that’s as personable as they are, i will be very, very blessed.

the day before shooting

so i’m here in the Land of Lincoln, readying for day 1 of "America’s Second Revolution" Episode I: Dissolving the Union. Springfield, IL is…well…i’m not sure yet#–the signs say i’m here, but i haven’t "experienced" the place yet. i will say this, the street names are incredibly patriotic: Freedom Drive, Veterans Parkway, etc.

as i drove the highways and byways today, i was surprised at how different the topography is from MO to IL. it’s like crossing a body of water#–one minute there are rolling hills and forested countryside, the next a vast expanse of nothing. or, rather, a lack of anything. since it’s winter, the land in IL (cleared for farming) is barren and stark#–no amber waves, no sunflowers or soy, just acres and acres of beige palleted expanse, drifting into the horizon.

march madness

well, the time is here: NCAA basketball. i’ve made my picks and the big dance starts tomorrow (i may be crazy, but i’ve got utah taking the Austin semi-finals).

on other fronts, i’m in MO again and just finished a promo shoot for Budweiser in St. Louis. it was a one-day event and my first time working for them. i leave for Springfield, IL on Sunday for "America’s Second Revolution". check out the photos section of my website for a photo from the costume fitting.

it’s finished…no really

well, we finally worked out the rest of the music for The Suburban Seven. it was a hard thing to swallow, but since we couldn’t get Andrew Bird to allow the use of two of his songs, we had to axe them from the movie. instead, we are using one song from Daphne Loves Derby that was already in the movie (although in a much less recognizable location) and music from Big Smith, who i love and want to support anyway. and the funny thing is…after making the replacements, i think i like the movie better this way. the songs we had to replace were the violin section in the "mafia" scene, and the song beginning day 3. the net effect is a little lighter mood in "mafia" and one kick-ass song on day 3. so i’m happy. and the movie is now finished. well, as finished as it’s going to be until someone wants to buy it and we do new credits or whatever (or someone points out something i totally missed and i say "riiiight…let me get right on that").
