the day before shooting
so i’m here in the Land of Lincoln, readying for day 1 of "America’s Second Revolution" Episode I: Dissolving the Union. Springfield, IL is…well…i’m not sure yet#–the signs say i’m here, but i haven’t "experienced" the place yet. i will say this, the street names are incredibly patriotic: Freedom Drive, Veterans Parkway, etc.
as i drove the highways and byways today, i was surprised at how different the topography is from MO to IL. it’s like crossing a body of water#–one minute there are rolling hills and forested countryside, the next a vast expanse of nothing. or, rather, a lack of anything. since it’s winter, the land in IL (cleared for farming) is barren and stark#–no amber waves, no sunflowers or soy, just acres and acres of beige palleted expanse, drifting into the horizon.
we will be shooting somewhere in the neighborhood of 13 pages of dialogue tomorrow#–the only actor scheduled on set is me. i think i have discussed before that the average daily page load for a shoot is somewhere around 4-5 pages per day. it’s hard to shoot more than that because setups can run long, lines can get fudged, and people can get tired. so tommorrow is going to be a bit of a marathon#–especially since, as host, my dialogue includes a cornucopia of dates, names, figures, and places. here’s hoping they all come in out in the right order, and at the right time. ;)
my NCAA bracket is in a sorry state of affairs#–my dad and i have been watching the games rabidly for the last several days, and with the shoot i’m going to miss out on the excitement. go Utah!

You did a great job Nicholas! Knocked out 13 pages of dialogue without any hitches! Now that’s performing! Great job man!
