Hello from Edinburgh!

Scotland is beautiful#–castles, cultre, art, music… it’s been a blast. Tonight I will be seeing Shakespeare at the Lyceum Theatre (As You Like It) and I am very excited. So far, my favorite thing has been touring Edinburgh Castle. I’ll have a lot of photos for Flickr when I get back, and I can’t wait to see how they turned out. It seems everywhere I look there is something to snap!

It hasn’t been all play though#–I finished up a pitch idea I’ve been tooling around in my mind for while (horror movie/vampire flick) that I was prompted to finish by an invite from Tim Cox of Plinyminor to send for production consideration. It seems they are looking for a vampire movie in the same mold as the one I’d been considering… I spent some time working out the step outline and structuring the bits I hadn’t already been mulling over, and emailed it out this morning. The review is on Monday, so keep your fingers crossed for me. It’s a concept that I like, so even if it’s not picked up I’ll probably still write the spec script.

The movie is for the Sci-Fi Channel, and they like working with people they know, so if I do sell the pitch there’s a chance I won’t get to write the story. That would be disappointing, but I would still get story by credit. Like I said, it’s a concept I like, so I really want to have a crack at writing it. Without getting too much into detail, it plays with the idea of time corrupting our memories of horrifying events and how the sins of the past are destined to be repeated. That’s not the theme, but it’s the idea that got me going on the story. Growing up in the Ozarks, everyone remembers the Baldknobbers#–roaming vandals that did some real damage back in the day#–but now they’re the local attraction. Everyone forgets they were pretty damned evil! Hopefully you’ll get to see how I turned that into a horror screenplay… :)

Where Alph, the sacred river, ran

Down to a sunless sea...
