Slightly Known People and the Hazzards

Last Saturday I went to see the movie Hostel… very gory, very hard to watch, and a lot of fun. I went with a couple of friends (Amanda, Sarah, and Heather) and we had a blast. I only watch horror movies in groups, and man oh man were we not disappointed. I think it could have been a little scarier, but it was entertaining, and that’s enough for me. Too much fright and I wuss out.

Later that night, we mosied on over to Rafifi where we caught a performance of Slightly Known People, a sketch comedy group. Every Saturday night they do a show with a musical guest, and this was the first I’ve been able to see. The musical group was The Hazzards… two electric ukelele playing ladies backed by a bass guitar, a harp, and a drummer playing a Toys-R-Us kids’ set. Holy crap was it a lot a fun! Seriously, The Hazzards were so funny I practically peed my pants… my favorite song of the night was the one about Office Temps… clearly they know that world, and they knew exactly how to make fun of it. You must, must, must check them out (and their new video Shut Up and Make Out).

The Hazzards

SKP has a show every Saturday night and I’m going to make it a part of my regular routine… I missed the show this week thanks to a cold I’m fighting off, but WOW… what fun!

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree :
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea...
